About Clayton's Source for Used Books & More
Pauper's Books & More is an independent used bookstore in Clayton, NC. We offer a wide selection of gently used books in many genres of Fiction and Non-Fiction, including a special section of the store devoted to Children's Literature (check out our 'Special Events' for information on our Children's Storytime). We also carry DVDs, CDs, Audio Books (both on tape and CD) and VHS tapes (the proceeds of VHS sells going to the local SPCA; check out our 'VHS For SPCA' for more information). And while we are a used bookstore, we often get in newly released titles, sparklingly clean and straight off the New York Times bestseller list (so check with us first before laying down thirty clams elsewhere - we normally price them at 1/3rd the cover price). We accept all major credit cards and cash.
Here's a run-down of our genres:
Fiction - Contemporary Fiction, Classic Literature, Mystery/Suspense (whole lotta Mystery Suspense), Romance (ditto), Horror, Science Fiction, Drama/Poetry, and Westerns
Non-Fiction - Biography/ Memoir, Art/Music/Film, Cooking, Gardening/Hobbies, Self-Help, Medicine/Health, Travel, Foreign Language, Business/Finance, Sports, Parenting and Relationships, Reference, Christianity/Religion (including Christian Fiction), Philosophy, Science (including Psychology, Sociology, etc.), American History/Politics and World History.
Children's Literature - we offer Young Adult Novels, Chapter Books, Board Books, popular series (such as Harry Potter, Magic Tree House, etc.), Disney VHS and DVDs, and Manga (some Manga; I'm still working on building it up).
Selling Policy: All paperbacks are at least ½ off the cover price unless otherwise marked. Hardbacks are written on the first blank page in pencil and are generally 1/3rd or more off the cover price.
Buying Policy: Depending on condition and availability, we generally will offer 1/8th the cover price in cash and 50% more of that in store credit (for you mathematicians out there, store credit normally ends up being 3/16th of the cover price). For example, for a nice clean paperback priced at $8, we would offer you $1 in cash or a $1.50 in store credit.
